My 1st encounter with windows 2000 was a free cdrom of windows 2000 server series 180 day trial from microsoft.
I was by far the most robust system when it reached sp4 however it lacked the driver base of its DOS predecessors.
It does however support the office 2003 suite by microsoft and keeps the door open to most popular applications like adobe acrobat and some other applications.
dos emulation was just unnaceptable and it still does in latest nt reincarnations.
